AI is changing how we learn and work. But can we still trust how skills are verified?


Genpact wants every one of its employees to work as an AI practitioner by 2027. That is the ambition its Chief Human Resources Officer, Piyush Mehta, laid out recently, backed by more than 12.5 million internal learning hours logged in 2025, nearly 40% of them spent on AI and technology training. It is one of the clearest signals yet that enterprises are racing to build AI-ready workforces.

The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 found that employers expect 39% of workers' core skills to change by 2030. That is a slight improvement from the 44% predicted in 2023, but it still means roughly four in ten skills currently considered essential will look different within five years.

Microsoft's 2025 Work Trend Index adds another layer to this picture. Surveying 31,000 workers across 31 countries, it found that 78% of business leaders are already considering hiring for AI-specific roles, a figure that rises to 95% among the most AI-mature "Frontier Firms." Nearly half of leaders say upskilling their existing workforce is a top priority over the next year and a half.
